PTA

Overview

A community organization of parents, teachers, and community members collaboratively working to enrich the Benteen school environment, as well as the Benteen Community, for all Benteen students.

Our primary focus will be to continuously improve the quality of school life for our growing and extensive school community.  We will accomplish this through the organization and funding of programs, activities, and operational functions, that further support this initiative.

We cannot be successful without continued support by both teachers and our F.W. Benteen community.

Mission

The mission of the F. W. Benteen Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.  We support our school in advocating for its students, teachers, and staff.

Goals

  • Establish PTA programming that enhances the strengths of F.W. Benteen Elementary School as an I.B. World School of Excellence
  • Engage families and the Benteen community throughout the city of Atlanta through inclusive plans and programming
  • Continue to cultivate a love of learning for students, passion for teaching for teachers, while inspiring true and authentic family and community engagement
  • Enhance our children's academic and social enrichment as well as a commitment to the collaborative partnership with the Believe in Benteen School Foundation and the F.W. Benteen GO Team

Values

Collaboration: We will work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to broaden and enhance our ability to serve and advocate for all children and families

Commitment: We are dedicated to children's educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement, while remaining accountable to the specific needs of our Benteen community

Equity & Inclusion: We acknowledge the potential of everyone that walks through Benteen Elementary.  We commit to serving and advocating for all children and families, recognizing that children's individual needs are shaped by their social positions in society

Respect: We value contributions of members, Benteen faculty and staff, volunteers, and partners as we work collaboratively to achieve our association's goals.  We also strive to accept and understand lived experiences and varying backgrounds which make our Benteen community vibrant

Accountability: All members, Benteen faculty, volunteers, and partners have a shared responsibility to align their efforts toward the achievement of Benteen Elementary's PTA strategic initiatives
